Questions & Answers

Things families often ask us

What does a typical day look like at baanlilxz?

Mornings begin with breakfast in the communal dining room, often followed by a walk through the garden or gentle stretching on the lawn. Afternoons vary — some residents enjoy the library corner, others join the activity of the day, whether that is Thai flower arrangement or a short outing to a local temple. Evenings are quiet and unhurried, ending with a shared dinner and, on some Fridays, a community film screening.

How does the room rate work — what is included?

All room rates cover accommodation, three meals per day, and daily housekeeping. Laundry is included in Standard and All-Inclusive rooms. The All-Inclusive package also covers afternoon tea, all activities, and the support of a dedicated house staff member for everyday non-medical personal needs. There are no hidden charges — what you see is what the monthly invoice reflects.

Is baanlilxz a nursing home or medical facility?

No — baanlilxz is a residential boarding house for elderly individuals who live independently and do not require nursing or clinical care. Our staff are trained in hospitality and personal support, not medical practice. Residents who need medical attention are assisted in reaching local clinics or hospitals in Chiang Mai. This distinction is important to us; we are a home, not a care ward.

Can family members visit, and how often?

Family visits are welcome every day during open hours, typically from 9 in the morning until 8 in the evening. There is no limit on the frequency of visits, and families are encouraged to join residents for a meal or an afternoon in the garden. For All-Inclusive residents, we also send families a written quarterly update on their loved one's daily life and integration into the community.

How do we arrange a move-in, and how much notice is needed?

We suggest visiting in person first so that both parties can be sure of a good fit. After that, availability depending, a move-in can usually be arranged within two to three weeks. We ask for one month's notice when a resident intends to leave. Moving in is a gentle process — we help make the room feel personal from the very first day.

What about dietary needs and food preferences?

Our kitchen uses fresh local ingredients sourced from Chiang Mai's markets and prepares meals with care for nutrition and flavour. Dietary preferences — vegetarian, low-sodium, soft-food diets — are accommodated when discussed at the time of enquiry or move-in. We cannot always accommodate highly specialised medical diets, but we are always willing to talk through what works.
